Get Ready for The Batman 2022 at Seventh Dimension!

This week marks the highly-anticipated release of ‘The Batman’ film, directed by Matt Reeves featuring a star-studded cast including Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz and Paul Dano. 

It’s been a long wait for fans near and far, ever since word got out that filming was taking place in Glasgow way back in 2020. Over this time, doubts have been raised online about how well the movie will perform. But, if critics’ reviews are anything to go by (currently 9.1/10 on IMDb), then we think it’s safe to say that we can eagerly look forward to being pleasantly surprised by this brand-new take on DC’s most-loved superhero.

The Batman 2022: What to Expect

Batman has been a firm favourite for many generations. Stretching from the original TV show in the 1960s, to the famous Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy, Batman has maintained his dominance and sparked fandom all over the world. 

Now, this extensive on-screen history is being expanded with Matt Reeves's The Batman. But what can we expect from Reeves’s approach to the story?

According to the director himself, the story will take place in the second year of Bruce Wayne’s time as Batman. This means it won’t feature the transition from the once-was innocent young boy into the dark and deadly Batman. Instead, the movie will focus on a series of murders that are taking place all around Gotham City, and the challenges Batman faces while trying to right these wrongs all while still figuring out who exactly he is as a crime fighter.

Here’s a plot synopsis by Warner Bros.: “The Batman is an edgy, action-packed thriller that depicts Batman in his early years, struggling to balance rage with righteousness as he investigates a disturbing mystery that has terrorized Gotham. Robert Pattinson delivers a raw, intense portrayal of Batman as a disillusioned, desperate vigilante awakened by the realisation that the anger consuming him makes him no better than the ruthless serial killer he’s hunting.”

Joining Robert Pattinson as Batman is a cast that’s stacked with well-known and experienced actors, including:

• Paul Dano as The Riddler
• Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman
• Colin Farrell as The Penguin
• John Turturro as Carmine Falcone
• Jeffrey Wright James Gordon
• Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and more.

With a lineup as good as this, we can’t help but get excited about what’s to come! While not everyone was originally supportive of the new cast, you can’t deny that all the trailers have been nothing short of amazing. Here’s the main trailer that well and truly hooked us in:

All in all, this new movie looks incredibly promising. It has a strong cast, plenty of villains, a great foundation for the storyline, and a good writing team - so fingers crossed Warner Bros. doesn’t disappoint us again!
